Exhibit “As Above, So Below”
An exciting exhibition of new abstract landscape paintings by Wyoming – based artists Mitch Guthrie and Virginia Moore. The show challenges the definition of western art by bringing an abstract sensibility to Jackson Hole.
Rather than presenting landscape from a ground-based perspective, Virginia Moore’s heavily textured aerial landscape paintings flatten the world into an abstract pattern by looking directly down at the earth’s crust.
Mitch Guthrie’s work is also an abstraction of landscape, but informed through years of figure drawing. Figure drawing taught Mitch how to see not only the form and lines of the human body, but also how those lines are reflected in the landscape.
Exhibit will run July 12, 2014 thru October 15, 2014 at INTENCIONS.
